EBAIS : Basic team on Health Integral Services in Villarreal
Everybody knows that Villarreal has “El EBAIS”. However, not all of us know its meaning, its functions, or its needs.
The EBAIS was founded on January 1998. It first started with the staff of the Health stand that existed back then: Dr. Huertas, Lineth Acevedo as the Nurse Assistant, and Randy Cisneros as the Technician 4 in Pharmacy. The latter two officials are still working at the EBAIS. The Physicians give their social service for one year. They would belong to the Team only for that period.
Nowadays, Dr. Cinthia Cruz Romero, first aid technician Julio Gómez, and the secretary Silvia Rojas Arrieta constitute the “EBAIS” team.
This Medical Center offers free consultation to people from surrounding areas such as Tamarindo, Santa Rosa, Hernández, Pinilla, Avellanas, Linderos, El Llanito and Villarreal.
Infrastructure is not at its best. The EBAIS needs some repairs, new paint, more seats or chairs and fans. The size of the venue is not appropriate for the number of people that start making the line at 5am to get a space or at least be within the 35 patients treated per day. Out of those 35 people, 20 are treated during the morning, five are emergency cases and 10 correspond to scheduled appointments for Pregnancy, Growth and Development. However, the number is not always the same, since the EBAIS treats more patients than established. The amount of people requesting EBAIS for treatment is so large, that there is no space for everybody, especially if it is a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. The main objective of this Medical Center is to offer preventive and curative health services.
There are days, in which over 22 sick patients are sent home without an appointment or are remitted to Santa Cruz for clinical examination.
On Wednesdays, the EBAIS is attending hypertension and diabetic cases as well as offering the Lab services. Therefore, Wednesdays are not for regular appointments.
According to Randy Cisneros and Lineth Acevedo, the enlargement of the whole structure is about to come true. The EBAIS will have a larger waiting room with restrooms for men and women, and a more spacious nursery. The examination room will be more private and larger, and there will be an additional doctor’s office. The Engineers from the Social Security Fund visited the EBAIS and took the corresponding measurements.
It is quite important to have a place where you could receive aid in case of needing it. Now, it is time for you to give a hand and help.
