Tamarindo´s iconic Pueblo Dorado Hotel was acquired by local company Witch’s Rock Industries S.A.

The company, located in Tamarindo for many decades, is currently the owner and operator of the following businesses: Witch’s Rock Surf Camp, Volcano Brewing Company and El Vaquero Beach Restaurant.

“I am very excited about the purchase of Pueblo Dorado Hotel. It will be a great compliment to our organization and will keep with our mission to offer great quality clean, affordable, family friendly rooms to the public. Our style of hospitality has always included service with a smile and I am sure that Pueblo Dorado Hotel will also adopt this tradition of warmth and good attention,” said Joe Walsh, founder of Witch’s Rock Industries.

According to Walsh, the purchase was a business decision that would provide stronger management for his company, while at the same time fostering sustainable tourism.

In its first move, the new management cut prices to make the property more affordable and competitive.

The hotel aims to attract local and international tourists that want to spend their holidays in this famous beach destination and not have to cope with the rising costs of Costa Rica,” the company announcement stated.

Walsh, an entrepreneur who arrived to Tamarindo 15 years ago after driving a school bus from California, renting a cabin on the beach and opening Witch’s Rock Surf Camp, said that this new hotel acquisition will offer more new jobs to the community.

“More jobs will be offered, which are very necessary today for the community. Currently, more than 80 employees work at the hotel, but the figure will increase significantly,” he said. Witch’s Rock Surf has become a brand known for mentoring those who want to learn to surf.

Walsh recalls what Tamarindo was like when he first came to town and set up this business: “Tamarindo was very different back then, much smaller. But regardless of the growth of the town, we have always been 100 percent committed to it, and one of our fundamental values is, and will be, to contribute to the community,” Walsh explained.

Pueblo Dorado Surf Hotel (http:// pueblodorado.com) has 29 rooms, a swimming pool, free WiFi, cable TV and air conditioning in every room. It is located a short distance from Tamarindo Beach.

In addition, Pueblo Dorado helps to maintain a beautiful path just in front of the hotel that leads directly to the beach.
