What do we have to do?
How many more times, must we talk about the realistic possibility of no longer being able to have the lifeguards, the police and the beach cleaner because of insufficient funds to pay for such basic services.
Is Tamarindo not one of Costa Rica’s prime surfing and touristic destinations?
It is incredible to see so many of the major companies, such as the beer and soda companies making so much money from Tamarindo with all of the hotels and restaurants. It is amazing to see how many ICT (Costa Rican Institute of Tourism) supported businesses there are in this popular town.
And even more interesting, is to see how many people in the region of Santa Cruz are employed in Tamarindo. To be blatantly clear, Tamarindo, is an extremetly important place in Guanacaste, and is one of the reasons, why this region has grown so much in the last five years. Like it or not.
So with all this in mind, why is it, that these fundamental services that the government provides all the other towns and villages with, are being ignored here?
There must be a way, for Tamarindo, to have such basic services.
The community has paid for them for so many years, and now it’s the government’s turn. The people who profit most from these services are the tourists, and if Costa Rica wants to keep thriving on tourism such as sport-tourism and eco-tourism, then it must provide the tourists with a safe and clean place to visit.
We cannot be ignored any longer.
