HACIENDA PINILLA RECEIVES THE WHITE FLAG FOR QUALITY IN DRINKING WATER

14 June, 2009 08:59:00 By Tamarindo News Staff

Received the award for two consecutive years.

Hacienda Pinilla won the White Flag award for the second consecutive year as part of the Seal of Sanitary Quality promoted by the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewage (AYA). The award is obtained by providing quality, sustainable drinking water in harmony with nature.

The program, which began in 2001, has increased the number of companies and communities that participate from 14 to 250 in eight years.

Hacienda Pinilla has programs in place to protect water sources, allowing them to take part alongside the 250 other institutions.

As part of the efforts to achieve the award, Pinilla carried out a program of maintenance and cleaning of water tanks and networks as well as maintenance of residual chlorine in the network, all done within the parameters of the standards and quality controls for potable water.

These measures ensure the tranquility, health and comfort of visitors, through ongoing action that also complies with the essential objective.

The initiatives of the company directly involve staff who are trained in environmental education, studying water treatment processes and operation, taking into account water quality regulations.

Through the White Flag project, the government seeks to involve both private firms and whole communities to ensure complete coverage of the highest quality drinking water.

This prize is awarded to companies like Hacienda Pinilla, who have effective water management with a commitment to safeguard natural resources and who involve its partners in the cause.

The winners were recognized with a white flag with stars corresponding to the qualifying points earned.

Hacienda Pinilla is currently focused on consistency of all of the existing programs in order to again qualify for this recognition. By doing so, we retain the benefits it offers our customers as well as the contribution it offers the environment.
