More monkey bridges were hung
The campaign “Save the Monkeys” or now “SalveMonos”, keeps giving results. This past Wednesday, January 21st, four new monkey bridges were hung for this species that are constantly in danger of electrocution from power lines.
The bridges hung were: from the doorway of Hotel The Breeze located in front of Wayra Spanish Institute, the second in front of Kahiki restaurant, the third a few meters up from the police station and the last (of 18 bridges in total to be hung) in the town of Santa Rosa a few meters before the plaza, where there are mango branches that the monkeys have to cross the street to get to them and frequently get ran over by cars,
In speaking with Simona Daniele, owner of Hotel Luna Llena and founder of this campaign along with Patricia Sterman, they told the Tamaridno News that the next bridges to be hung in Santa Cruz, two on the road from 27 de Abril and another bridge in Langosta. The remaining 10 bridges to be hung are already made and are asking readers to please contact them if you know of any particular points of danger for the monkeys.
“We are really very thankful for the support by the tourists who have made this effort possible.”,stated Simona, who added that the sale of the T-shirts, coffee mugs and stickers continue saving the lives of the monkeys.
